Instruments we take on

If it has keys and it genuinely matters, it lands on Victor’s schedule: spinets and consoles, full uprights, baby grands, full concert grands, the old player pianos, and church and home organs, eased up a high-rise elevator or down a tight staircase through a narrow Fort Lauderdale doorway. How we move the piano

  3. Wrap and shrink The case, lid, lyre, and pedals are blanketed and shrink-wrapped, with humidity in mind for the South Florida air.

  5. Level and place Once inside the new home, Victor reassembles the legs, trues it up, and walks it to the exact corner you have in mind.

The high-rise is the real test

Honestly, it is the high-rises and the staircases that prompt most of these calls. An Intracoastal tower means a reserved freight elevator and a building COI, and a Victoria Park bungalow means a narrow staircase that bends hard at the landing. Victor walks the route first, reserves the freight elevator with the COI on file, then boards and wraps the grand before rolling it into the unit without grazing a corridor wall. He has made that Intracoastal tower carry hundreds of times, right up to the 20th floor and higher.
Can you move a piano down a tight staircase?
Routinely. The older Victoria Park and Sailboat Bend houses have narrow staircases that bend at the landing and no elevator, and that is exactly the work Victor does. The instrument goes onto the board, the route is plotted tread by tread, and it comes down without a mark on the case or the wall.
What does it cost to move a piano?
Plan on roughly $250 to $450 for an upright or console, $450 to $750 for a baby grand, and $650 to $1,200 for a full grand, with an organ at $300 to $600. A high-rise or a tight staircase adds $150 to $400. It is all put in writing before our truck shows up, whether you book the instrument by itself or fold it into your whole-move price.
