Do you do the move yourselves, or hand it to a broker?
The actual movers, every time. The interstate side runs on USDOT authority paired with MC authority, also live. Every one of those credentials has its paperwork sitting in our office, current with no lapse, and it covers the piano work the same as the rest of the load.
Flat rate or hourly?
An hourly quote sounds cheaper on the call, sure — right up until move day, when the clock starts ticking and the staircase, the grand, the wait on a freight elevator, and the drive across Broward stack the bill up far above the figure you were told. Our way reverses that. We price the entire job as a single flat number agreed before a soul touches the first box, so the surprises land on us, not on you — if the day runs longer than we figured, that overrun is on our tab. To give you a yardstick, a 2-mover crew is $140 an hour and a 3-mover crew $190 an hour on a 2-hour minimum, but what you actually owe is the one flat figure, never a meter.
Can you move my piano up to a high-rise condo?
That's squarely our lane — it's what we built the company on. Victor Pratt handles the specialty work himself: uprights and consoles at $250 to $450, baby grands at $450 to $750, and full grands at $650 to $1,200, with $150 to $400 added for a high-rise or a flight of stairs. We board the piano, pad it, and ride it up the freight elevator to your Intracoastal tower or carry it down a tight Victoria Park staircase — without a scratch. Church organs run $300 to $600, and a gun safe is quoted on weight.
If my closing date slides, will you hold my things?
We will, and around here we do it all the time — South Florida closing and sale dates rarely line up on the same calendar square. Everything you own, the piano right along with it, goes into a clean, climate-controlled, piano-safe unit and sits there for as long as the gap runs, charged month to month from $150 to $380 depending on the unit, with the cooling guarding against Broward heat and humidity. As soon as your new keys are in hand, we load it all back up and deliver.
How does valuation work?
Two coverage tiers sit on the table, and you pick. The no-charge baseline on interstate work is released-value protection, which settles at 60 cents per pound per item — plenty for a sturdy dresser, far too thin for a grand piano or anything irreplaceable. Move up to full-value protection and the typical add-on runs roughly one to three percent of the value you put down; on top of that we hold $1 million in cargo coverage. Do you handle high-rise COIs, freight elevators, and hurricane-season timing?
Handling all of that is on us — and it's precisely the chore a bargain outfit dumps back in your lap. Most Intracoastal and downtown condo towers keep the truck at the curb until a Certificate of Insurance is on file and a freight-elevator window is locked in days in advance, so Carla files the COI and reserves the slot ahead of time and the crew never gets waved off. We also build the calendar around hurricane season and the snowbirds heading north come spring and back south by fall, and since no Florida home has a basement, every job comes down to ground floor, staircases, and elevators.
When do I pay?
Payment is due the moment the final box — and the grand — is resting in its spot; cash, check, or a major card are all fine. Because that number went on paper before the truck ever left NW 21st Ave, nobody is standing at the curb doing math, and there's no inflated total sprung on you at the end.
What happens if I have to call the move off?
Closings fall through and dates get reshuffled constantly; after running moves in Fort Lauderdale since 2011, nothing about it surprises us. Give us a heads-up as far ahead as you can, and we'll move your date over — no penalty, no hassle.
